Who supplies the OpenTable SMS features?
The text messaging features are not enabled by OpenTable directly, they are powered by The KAPOW! SMS Gateway (a division of Cygnet Internet Services Ltd) and it is KAPOW! who provide this service. Established in 1995, KAPOW! was the UK's First SMS Gateway, and is a world leader in Mobile Messaging.

What does SMS stand for?
Short Message Service. It is a standard feature of the GSM protocol (used by most mobile phone networks around the world), and allows messages of up to 160 characters to be sent to mobile phones.

Do you charge any monthly charges or start up fees?
No. It is FREE to register and you only pay for message credits.

How many 'credits' does one message cost?
1 Message = 1 Credit. Each message sent costs the same (1 credit), to any network, regardless of destination country.

Is there a minimum monthly purchase required?
There are no minimum monthly charges. Simply purchase credits when you need more.

How long does message delivery take?
The average delivery time through our service is under 5 seconds!

What is the maximum length of an SMS message?
A standard SMS messages may be up to 160 characters long.

How can I send an SMS with the Kapow! Service?
Your restaurants OpenTable server already has support for KAPOW! built-in. This enables you to easily send Confirmation, Cancellation, and Reservation Changes through the Electronic Reservation Book.

Can I send messages abroad?
Yes you can. We provide coverage to over 500 networks worldwide. And better still, they all cost the same low price.

Will the numbers I send to be used by OpenTable, KAPOW! or any third-parties?
All the numbers and messages that you send are treated in the strictest confidence. We will never use them or share the information with other companies.

Do I get notified when my credits are low?
Yes. You automatically receive an email when less than 50 credits remain. You can change this to a higher or lower number from your account 'Options' page if you wish.

Am I able to trial the service before I buy some credits?
Yes. We can offer you a completely FREE demo so that you can see just how good our service is. Simply register then email us specifying your username, so we can add some free credits!

What is a From-Id / Originator?
The From-Id is the originating number (or alpha-string) that appears as the 'sender' on the recipients phone. By default it is set to 'kapow.co.uk'. However, by activating the From-Id feature it can be changed to your company name or website address.

What format should mobile numbers be in?
Ideally mobile numbers should be in International format without the leading '00' or '+'. For example; 447xxxxxxxxx or 35387xxxxxxx. For UK numbers, it is also possible to supply them in the 'local' format. For example; 07xxxxxxxxx. There should be no spaces or other symbols within numbers. However, the OpenTable server will attempt to correctly format numbers before sending.

How can I pay for credits?
You must log-in and select 'Buy Credits'. The quickest way to purchase credits is with a credit/debit card, simply follow the steps on the website. You may also pay by cheque or bank transfer. For either of these methods you must contact us and quote your username and what you wish to purchase. You will then be sent a pro-forma invoice. Once payment is received your credits will be added.
